TALLMADGE TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Police in Kent and Ottawa counties are looking for the suspects responsible for vandalizing mailboxes and windows at about 50 homes.
Sgt. Brian Buter with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the damage occurred Wednesday night into early Thanksgiving. The initial report took place at 13054 8th Ave in Tallmadge township. Upon further investigation it was learned that the damaged mailboxes actually started in Kent County near Kenowa and Burton St.
The suspects then made their way north on Kenowa and then west on Luce St. They then went north on 8th Ave to Johnson where they continued to damage mailboxes along this route westbound on Johnson St.where they continued to damage mailboxes along this route westbound on Johnson St. They suspects permanently damaged approximately fifty mailboxes along this route using golf clubs.
Another incident occurred at 11515 Woodgate in Tallmadge, which is along this route. Here the suspects broke out a window to the victim’s 2005 Saturn van using a golf club.
Seth VanHorssen of Tallmadge Township has a message for the vandals that damaged his mailbox and garage.
“You want to break stuff, go smash your own stuff.”
