WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Harbor Humane Society is joining in on the Black Friday madness with a special adoption promotion.
On Friday November 24, all animals with black on them are discounted to celebrate Black Friday and all other animals will be available for 30% off the adoption price. The promotion excludes dogs under 5 months. Dogs with black markings including noses will be available at the reduced rate of $45 compared to the usual adoption price of $175.00. All kittens and cats with black markings will be available with the fee-waived although donations are appreciated.
Megan Brunsting is the Shelter Manager at Harbor Humane and they have a system in place so help families who make the decision to adopt a pet for the holidays.
“There is actually a lot of research shown that pets given as gifts are not loved any less or not kept in the home as long as pets that were chosen to be adopted. We have a very in depth adoption counseling process. So anyone that comes in our door whether it’s around the holidays or any other time. We sit down and we have a conversation with them. Whether it’s with cats or dogs, puppies, kittens. Kind of chatting with them about what proper pet ownership is, being realistic with them about what’s required when you get a pet with house training, obedience and things like that.”
Harbor Humane Society will be open on Black Friday from 12-6 p.m. Located at 14345 Bagley Street in West Olive.
