HOLLAND TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Crews from two departments needed several hours to bring a fire at a graphic art design business under control on Monday morning.
Firefighters from the city of Zeeland joined their colleagues from Holland Township in responding to a report of a blaze at the Graphix Signs and Embroidery building off of Lakewood Boulevard near 112th Avenue shortly before 3 AM. They had to do their work from the outside due to the collapse of the structure’s roof, and some walls were torn down after daybreak to facilitate fire fighting efforts. Sheriff’s deputies blocked roads in all directions heading into the intersection throughout the morning commute while fire fighting apparatus were deployed.
The building was unoccupied at the time the blaze broke out, and there were no reports of any serious injuries suffered by responders. A cause of the fire wasn’t immediately determined, and while a dollar value of the damage caused was also pending, it was initially believed that the building was a total loss.
