HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It was a busy night at Holland City Hall as several swearing in ceremonies took place.
On Monday evening, Holland Mayor Nancy DeBoer was sworn in, returning council members At-large Councilman Quincy Byrd and First ward Councilman Myron Trethewey as well as two new council members, Scott Corbin and Raul Garcia were sworn in.
Allegan County Commissioner Jim Storey was sworn in for his post on the Civic Center Board. He is replacing Sally Laukitis of the Holland Visitors Bureau who had to step down due to other committments. The Board consists of six other members who will meet on a volunteer basis to come up with marketing, event planning and other ways to utilize Holland’s Civic Center. Storey says it’s important that the Board is a self supporting money generating enterprise.
“That’s really the kind of focus I hope to bring to it. I have some understand of the hospitality industry and I think that is a really important element of making the Civic Center both a financial and people’s success.”
The Board consists of Kristi Dunn, event and conference manager at Hope College, Grant Hirst, general manager of Suburban Inns, local business owner Tony Castillo, Chris Hart, realtor at Andrea Crossman Group,Nathan Bocks, owner of Central Park Law and Michael Schultheis, manager at Palisades Nuclear Plant.
