HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Discounts at over 100 businesses in West Michigan will be available to veterans on Veterans Day, November 11.
The county-run program from the Ottawa County Clerk’s Office is for Ottawa County veterans who sign up for the Honor Rewards program. Veterans are then given a personalized photo ID they can use to receive the discounts throughout the county. Everything from restaurants to chiropractors and even car dealerships.
Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck says they record DD214 discharge papers in their office.
“It’s a free service and basically a way for the veteran who lives here to put in on official record. It’s kind of a partnership that we’ve put together with one of our vendors and way of giving back to the community as well and they do this completely free of charge.”
Veterans who would like to join the Honors Rewards Program can fill out an application in person at the Ottawa County Clerk’s Office or online.
Area businesses who are interested in participating in the Honor Rewards can sign up online with the Ottawa County Clerk’s Office. There is no fee to participate.
Veterans must present the ID card and mention Honor Rewards to receive the discounts.
