ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The City of Zeeland will hold a public forum for residents regarding the direction of police services in a information session Wednesday evening.
Zeeland Police Chief William Olney officially retired October 25th and right now two veteran officers have been appointed to the position of Interim Police Chief. Sergeant Tom Ball will be Interim Police Chief of Administrative Services and Corporal Kevin Cisler will be Interim Police Chief of Operational Services.
Between the two of them they share over 50 years of law enforcement experience according to Zeeland Mayor Kevin Klynstra.
“We’re trying to be as transparent as possible on this. That we give everybody the chance to give their input on it and we’ve been thorough. We looked into a Public Safety Director and we decided not to go that way. So this is kind of the only thing left for us to look at is to contract through the County or to keep our own.”
The public forum will be held Wednesday, November 1 at 7 p.m. at the Howard Miller Library located at 14 South Church St in Zeeland.
