ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The City of Zeeland is hosting an event with the organization Building Resilient Youth Thursday evening.
Building Resilient Youth is a suicide prevention committee formed with the Community Youth Development (CYD) Department of Pathways of Arbor Circle Their mission is to support teens in getting help for depression and suicide in order to build resilient youth and prevent teen suicide.
The event is called Resilient Families Celebration and will feature Rachel Gleason and Fable the Poet, both members of The Diatribe of Grand Rapids who will provide spoken word performances..
Spoken word, art, poetry and music are all powerful ways of coping with the challenges teens face in life. The Resilient Families Celebration will focus on supporting youth and families in building awareness for Suicide Prevention and Mental Health promotion.
The free event is from 6-8 p.m. at Lawrence Street Park located at 100 W Lawrence Avenue in Zeeland.
