HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – If you’ve been thinking about adopting a pet, this Saturday is the day to do it.
It’s the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters Day where dog and cat adoption fees will be waived. Adoption fees can run from $60 for cats and up to $150 for dogs. On September 23, new pet owners will only be responsible for the licensing fee which can cost from $7 to $12.
Over 20 shelters around the area will be participating in Empty the Shelters day including Harbor Humane Society in West Olive. A full list of the shelters participating is online.
The Bissell Foundation says over the past 17 months, over nine-thousand dogs and cats being adopted through the Empty the Shelter Days. The BISSELL Pet Foundation exists to assist animal welfare organizations. This includes helping to reduce the number of animals in shelters and rescues through pet adoption, spay/neuter programs, microchipping and foster care.
