HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – An intersection in Holland that seen seven crashes in 2017 alone will now be a four-way stop.
The Ottawa County Board of Road Commissioners have ordered the all-way stop be implemented at the intersection of 136th Avenue and New Holland Street in Olive and Holland Townships.
Fred Keena is Traffic Engineer for Ottawa County Road Commission and says the intersection has double the average crashes. In a report, there were 21 reported crashes at the intersection from January of 2015 to August 31, 2017. The average crash rate for an intersection is 0.5 to 1.5 crashes per million vehicles entering the intersection. This intersection had a crash rate of 3.03 crashes per million vehicles during this 3 year time period.
The four-way stop sign will be installed Wednesday, September 27, weather permitting.
