LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – School districts statewide are making the decision to cancel classes due to the extreme heat.
Despite Fall officially kicking in on Friday, temperatures around the state will be in the 90’s again. School districts that do not have air conditioned facilities are either cancelling or calling for a half-day today, September 25.
In Kent County, students will be released early. Other districts like Allegan and Kalamazoo counties are also cutting the day short. Right now no schools in Ottawa County are not closed or calling for a half day.
Last night on social media, some schools issued a statement suggesting parents send students in loose-fitting and light colored clothes with water bottles and ice packs.
WHTC will have any school closings or changes to the schedule on-air during WHTC Morning News and online.
