HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Center for Women in Transition (CWIT) in Holland has reached their campaign goal early raising over $2.6 million dollars.
In April, the Forward Together Campaign which covers comprehensive needs for the agency, future capital improvements, endowment and programming was launched with a goal of $2.24 million dollars. The Center has raised $2,617,500 in pledges and gifts and thanks to their donors, campaign committee and leadership of Mike and Colleen Hill.
Development Director Christina Scarpino says in addition to the crisis services they provide, The Center for Women in Transition is working on prevention.
“So we’re working a lot in the high schools. We are really embedded in the local high schools now including West Ottawa, Grand Haven High School and Spring Lake High School. Those three schools particulary are doing some new stuff related to bystander intervention and you know teaching kids about healthy relationships.”
While the Center has exceeded this milestone goal of $2.25 million, charitible gifts are still being accepted for the endowment in our future fundraising efforts.
CWIT has served Ottawa and Allegan counties for 40 years with a mission to respond to, reduce, and prevent domestic and sexual violence. Rebuilding lives and preventing violence in ther community is accomplished through services like emergency shelter, trauma therapy for adults and children, forensic sexual assault nurse examinations, supportive housing, and violence prevention programs and education.
