HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Animal shelters in West Michigan are participating in free adoption events for pets displaced by hurricanes Irma and Harvey.
The BISSELL Pet Foundation is covering the cost of the five shelters including Harbor Humane Society in West Olive. Through September 23, pets adoption fees will be waived for the displaced animals.
On September 23, The BISSEL Foundation will hold their Empty The Shelters where all fees on all animals will be waived. Six states are participating in the free adoption program through September 23. A list of participating shelters can be found online.
Licensing fees will still have to be paid by those who adopt.
