GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Good news for those who drive M-6 as the eastbound lanes will open sometime today.
This is ahead of schedule according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. The westbound lanes will remain under construction until November. The repaving project began in July.
The $9.5 million project is being done years ahead of schedule. The 13-year-old highway had been crumbling due to a shortage in resin when it was built, which is a key part of concrete. The highway had to be built with synthetic resin, the quality of which had not been perfected in 2004.
