HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A picnic, football game, soccer games and family fun awaits you at the 52nd Hope-Holland Community Day on Saturday, September 9.
All the fun starts at 11:00 a.m. AM picnic at Windmill Island Gardens, and including a 12 Noon women’s soccer match versus Adrian at Van Andel Stadium and a 1:30 p.m. gridiron football game versus Defiance at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium. School spokesman Greg Olgers said that the event began in 1966 in conjunction with Hope’s centennial celebration.
“Part of what makes Hope College outstanding is the community where the college resides. There is such great friendships, partnerships with residents, schools, businesses, the downtown is a fantastic location to have right next door to campus. It’s very special and important to the college.”
Tickets are $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-11, free for children under 5 and include:
- Admission to Windmill Island Gardens from 9:30 am – 5 pm
- Extensive picnic at Windmill Island Gardens from 11 am – 1:30 pm featuring live music and a prize drawing
- Admission to the Hope women’s soccer game vs Adrian College at Noon and Hope football game vs Defiance College at 1:30 pm
For the non-sports fan, there will be exhibits at the De Pree Art Center and Gallery and the Kruizenga Art Museum. A list of all the festivities is available online.
