MARTIN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A motorist who apparently was involved in a hit-and-run crash near Martin on Friday evening eventually spent the night in a Kalamazoo hospital bed.
No names were disclosed by Allegan County Sheriff’s Captain Scott Matice stemming from the two incidents in the area of US-131 near 116th Avenue shortly after 8 PM. Central Dispatch had initially received reports of a collision in which a blue pickup truck was seen leaving the scene. A few minutes later came further reports that the suspect’s vehicle, which had been seen driving erratically and recklessly, had run into the trailer of a nearby semi and became lodged underneath.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they had to extricate the pickup driver and take him to an unnamed medical facility for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No other motorist involved in the two crashes were injured.
US-131 was closed for about two and a half hours in that area as a result of the incident, which remains under investigation.
