HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Community Foundation of the Holland-Zeeland Area will have plenty to celebrate about when its fall Celebration of Philanthropy comes later this month.
President and CEO of the Foundation Mike Goorhouse and his board colleagues agreed late last month to award seven grants totaling 225 thousand dollars in the organization’s second of three rounds of competitive grants for 2017. “We really try to evaluate the proposals based on their quality and their impact that they can have on their community,” he said in a Friday appearance on “WHTC Talk of the Town. “This round, we felt like there was a large number of really good opportunities out there.”
These grants were: $75,000 over three years to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Holland to offer a new program site in Holland Heights; $75,000 over three years to the Children’s Advocacy Center for its Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment program; $30,000 to Western Theological Seminary for its community kitchen renovation; $25,000 to Community SPOKE for a age-friendly transportation study and plan; $20,000 to Latin Americans United for Progress for a community feedback and reorganization project; $20,000 to Pioneer Resources for renovating its Holland offices; and $10,000 to City on a Hill Ministries for remodeling its helath clinic.
More information on the grant program is online. The Celebration of Philanthrophy is on September 14th at the Eldean Boat Shed off of South Shore Drive.
