BYRON CENTER, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Construction is on schedule on M-6 and you may need to adjust your route starting Saturday, August 25 through November.
John Richard from the Michigan Department of Transportation says there will be one lane open all the way to Wilson for a couple more weeks. It will take about 28 days for Wilson to be reconstructed. and then after that one lane will be open to Bryon Center.
Tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. the Michigan Department of Transportation will be closing the westbound side of M-6 between Wilson Avenue and the I-196 Ford Freeway. That stretch of the road will not open till November.
“We’re still on target for early November completion so getting both bounds reconstructed in one year is huge. That”s great for motorists. That’s great for everybody.”
MDOT is recommending that drivers use U.S. 131 and I-196 to get around the construction. MDOT closed the eastbound lanes in early July and those lanes will reopen not long after Labor Day.
MDOT will be suspending a lot of the work for the Labor Day weekend to accomodate holiday travel. You can follow MDOT online and on Facebook and Twitter. You can also download MDOT’s Mi Drive traffic information app.
