HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The flowers are back in bloom at Windmill Island Gardens with thousands of annuals and perennial flowers in peak bloom throughout the gardens.
To celebrate, Windmill Island Gardens will host Peak Bloom Week. Every year there is a different theme and this year 2017 highlights ‘The Artful Garden’.
Staff designed and planted flower beds throughout the park to mimic famous pieces of art. Artists represented range from Van Gogh to Warhol to Rembrandt. There are also several new art-themed sculptures for visitors to enjoy.
As part of the celebration, Windmill Island Gardens is partnering with Kids’ Food Basket in the attack on childhood hunger. Kids receive free admission throughout the week when providing an item from the Kids’ Food Basket wish list that includes granola bars, snack-size zipper bags, fruit/applesauce cups, toasted oat cereal, cheese crackers and pretzel twists.
Young guests are also invited to color lunch bags for Kids’ Food Basket in Holland and enjoy a number of activities to help them discover the beautiful grounds around the Island.
Peak Bloom Week runs from Sunday, July 23 to Saturday, July 29.
