HOLLAND, MI (WHTC- AM/FM) – Lake Macatawa is in the process of getting four new wake zones to improve boater safety.
The four new no-wake zones are located at the Big Bay and Macatawa Bay, as well as about 200 ft. inshore on both sides of the Narrows, the middle portion of Lake Macatawa.
Park Township, the City of Holland, and Holland Township have all donated equipment to designate the areas that are affected. By this weekend, all demarcation should be finished.
The Ottawa County Sheriff Department and the Coast Guard have been distrubuting brand new maps at boating clubs and rental places along Lake Macatawa to warn residents of the change. If anyone exceeds the posted speeds, a fine will be enforced.
Pine Creek Bay is the only offset that is unaffected by the new zone.
