DETROIT, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It’s not a publicity stunt. Kid Rock is running for the U.S. Senate.
In a new statement on his website and Facebook about his potential bid for office, the singer says he says the “press is wrong,”
The Michigan rocker says he has 15 days from the time of his announcement to file campaign paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission.
Kid Rock whose real name is Robert Richie says his campaign is “not a hoax, it’s a strategy and marketing 101.”
WHTC News spoke with Zeeland Congressman Bill Huizenga Thursday about Rock’s announcement and he wonders if the he can get the same kind of traction in West Michigan as he has on the eastside of the state to carry a vote here.
“He’s gotta get over here and spend some time and let people understand who he is and what he is really like. Is he the guy the rockstar on stage and what’s he like in front of a Lincoln Day dinner or a rotary club trying to explan what his policy stances are.”
Rock says he wants to be a voice for tax-paying, hardworking Americans and letting politicians know “We the People are sick and tired” of business as usual in Washington.
