ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A Coopersville man is going to federal prison for his role in a billing scheme.
Kevin John Grimm has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for his role in a billing scheme that cheated Herman Miller out of $1.7 million. In March Grimm pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud. The scheme ran from June 2010 to July 2015.
Former Herman Miller employee Jerry Lee Akers of Spring Lake worked with Grimm on the scheme billing the company for natural gas that was never delivered by a company run by Grimm. Akers was sentenced in May to 41 months in connection to the scheme.
Grimm has been ordered to pay back $458,947.14 in restitution, forfeit an identical amount to the government, and will be supervised for two years upon his release.
WOOD TV 8 reports that both Akers and Grimm have already repaid $1,313,779 of the illegal proceeds.
