GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – There are still a few thousand Consumers Energy customers in west Michigan without power as a result of Friday’s storms.
Spokesman Dennis McKee says the storms took down trees and power lines in heavily-populated areas.
“Getting through those high populated areas, getting crews down streets and getting those trees out of the way made for very difficult progress. Those customers who continue to use electric generators please make sure that those are well ventilated areas and always be aware of potential of carbon monoxide issues>”
As of late Sunday night, the utility says there were nearly three-thousand outages remaining in Ottawa County, 906 in Kent County, and 114 in Allegan County.
Power is expected to be back for those customers sometime today. At the peak of the outage, there were over 156-thousand homes and businesses in the dark.
Consumers Energy spokesman Dennis McKee says safety is the top priority for those still without power after Friday’s storms.
