HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC) – Authorities on Sunday released the name of a 27-year-old Kentwood man who had died on Saturday evening from injuries suffered when he crashed his motorcycle on Hudsonville’s south side.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Eric Westveer, Joshua Ross was riding his Harley westbound on Corporate Grove Drive, a service road that runs parallel to nearby I-196, at what witnesses say was a high rate of speed. He lost control of his machine on a curve near 32nd Avenue and skidded off the roadway, hitting a large embankment. Ross, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in critical condition, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
Westveer added that the possibility of drug and/or alcohol use couldn’t be immediately determined as the crash remains under investigation.
