HOLLAND TWP, MI (WHTC) – A 66-year-old Zeeland man is in serious condition after a two-vehicle crash in Holland Township Monday morning.
Ottawa County Deputies were dispatched to the intersection Lakewood Blvd and US-31 around 10:19 a.m. Monday, June 12. Sgt. VanderPloeg says Eldon Van Klompenberg was driving a Ford Focus west on Lakewood Blvd when he failed to stop at a red traffic signal at the US-31 intersection.
Upon entering the intersection, Van Klompenberg stuck a Pontiac Montana driven by 23-year-old Brett Talley of Zeeland. Talley had a green traffic signal and was proceeding north across Lakewood Blvd. from the Spectrum Health parking lot. He attempted to enter on US-31 when he was struck.
Both drivers were injured in the collision.
Van Klompenberg was transported to Zeeland Hospital by AMR ambulance in serious condition and Talley was transported to Holland Hospital for minor injuries.
