HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Classmates of the 17-year-old that was hit and killed by a train on Monday, June 12, are gathering to remember her.
Nearly 200 Covenant Christian High students packed the school’s music room to hold a memorial service last night. Samantha Lubbers‘ car was hit by a CSX train in Zeeland Township yesterday and she died at the hospital. Lubbers had just finished her junior year at the school.
According to the Langeland Sterenberg Yntema funeral home, Samantha was born in Zeeland, November 17, 1999, to Doug and Lisa (Regnerus) Lubbers. She is survived by her parents, Doug and Lisa Lubbers, her sisters: Kendra and Alex Overbeek, Ali Lubbers, Carly Lubbers; grandparents: Bernie and Ruth Lubbers of Byron Center, Sam and Alyce Regnerus of Hudsonville, and many extended family and friends.
A funeral service to honor the faith and life of Samantha Lubbers will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, June 16, 2017, at Georgetown Protestant Reformed Church located at 7146 48th Ave in Hudsonville.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm, and 5:30-8:30 pm, Thursday, also at Georgetown PRC. Interment will be in Beaverdam Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Christian High School, or Georgetown PRC.
