LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Six men from the Lakeshore are among 159 hoping to be wearing the blue uniform of a Michigan State Police trooper by the end of the year.
The 133rd Trooper Recruit School got underway this week at the state police training academy in Lansing. Undergoing 26 weeks of strenuous training in various aspects of law enforcement are Michael Shaw of Allegan, Matthew Slagter of Dorr, Joseph Duff the second of Grand Haven, Kyle Bos of Hamilton, Austin Wolven of Hudsonville and Bradley Machiela of Zeeland.
Graduation for the largest recruit class since 2000 is scheduled for November 30th. More information about joining the state police is online.
