HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland Christian Schools is mourning the death of their High School Technology Support Specialist, Chris Casey.
According to the school’s Facebook post, Casey, was found dead in his home Tuesday morning. He had a history of seizures, but the specific cause of death is unknown at this time.
Dan Meester, Superintendent of Holland Christian Schools posted a message on the school’s Facebook page saying that Chris was beloved by faculty and students alike for his friendly, helpful spirit, and we will miss him dearly.
This morning at 8:00 a.m., high school students and anyone else interested are invited to meet in the auditorium for a time of prayer, reflection, and just being together before the start of exams. This is not a required gathering, but we welcome those who are in need of support, along with those equipped to be “lifters”—including our graduated seniors.
This is the 5th death the school has mourned this year alone. In May, 13-year-old student Cassie Delf died the day after she was diagnosed with a rare type of leukemia. Last June, 16-year-old Riley Hoeksema drowned in Lake Michigan after a boating accident. In September a social studies and Bible teacher Kevin Witte was killed in a car crash. The 37-year-old Witte also was a soccer coach. In March fellow student Caroline Kanis died of a brain tumor.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
