GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – The city of Grand Haven is hoping to have the pier reopened by September, but more money is needed to restore the catwalk.
City Manager Pat McGinnis says they’re raising the money privately and not using tax dollars for the project. He says they still need about 400-thousand dollars of a one-million dollar goal.
The renovations and repairs to the pier are the first since the 1950s, and that work is being paid for by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
