HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A Holland school is one of only 11 schools across the nation to receive the AAA School Safety Patroller Advancement Grant.
Holland East K-7 was awarded the $500 grant on Thursday, may 25 by Vince Bush, a AAA Holland Entrepreneurial Agent. The school received the grant in honor of their programs for exemplary service to their school and community.
These grants help recognize and expand or enhance schools’ existing patrol programs. The emphasis on the safety and educational benefits the program provides to students and the lifesaving contributions to the community.
AAA School Safety Patrol began in the early 1920s as a small, boys-only program and has expanded to be the largest safety program in the world, with more than 654,000 patrollers in 34,500 schools nationwide, who dedicate their time each day before and after school to ensure their classmates are safe. There are currently 26,335 patrollers in 911 schools throughout Michigan.
