MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) – Muskegon Catholic Central evacuated the school after over 18 people complained of breathing trouble on Tuesday, May 23.
Muskegon Catholic Central President Ken Rasp said in a email to parents that authorities were called around 8:15 a.m. Emergency crews responded to a hazmat situation and students and staff were sent to the hospital for breathing problems.
Test results sent to a lab came back negative. It is not known what caused students and staff to become ill.
The school houses Pre K through 12 in several buildings that are all connected. WHTC News Reporter Mary Ellen Murphy received the text and emails about the evacuation as her twin daughters attend the school and will graduate in June.
Steudents and staff were treated at area hospitals and released.
