HOLLAND TWP, MI (WHTC) – The lane closures scheduled for paving work today, Thursday, May 18 and Friday, May 19 on US-31 between Quincy and New Holland has been delayed until Monday-Wednesday of next week due to a breakdown at the asphalt plant.
MDOT was to cold milled and resurfaced from where the paving ended last year north of Quincy to north of Ransom Street where the crossover was in place (approximately ½ mile). The work should take a few days and during this work US-31 will be reduced to 1 lane in each direction. SB lane closures will not begin until after 8 a.m. and NB lane closures will be removed by 3 p.m.
Southbound US-31 @ Macatawa River:
The right lane of southbound US-31 over the Macatawa River will be closed beginning on Monday, May 15th for the commencement of structural steel coating on the structure. This is technically the southbound US-31 on ramp from Lakewood Boulevard which becomes the southbound US-31 exit ramp to Chicago Drive. During the work the southbound US-31 on ramp from Lakewood Boulevard will remain open but will be required to yield and merge with the right lane of southbound US-31. The southbound US-31 exit ramp to Chicago Drive will also remain open for use during this work. This closure is expected to be in place for approximately 2-3 weeks.
