HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – For the third time in a week, Holland Public Safety firefighters had to deal with what investigators are calling an “intentional fire.”
Crews were called to a house in the 400 block of Harrison Avenue around 4:30 AM on Monday on a report of a fire on the porch of the single-family, one-floor residence. A portable fire extinguisher used by department cadets on a parking enforcement detail brought the flames under control, and activated smoke alarms were able to alert residents inside, enabling them to escape safely and without injury.
Detectives were able to determine that the fire was intentionally set, but at this point, they don’t believe that it was connected to other presumed acts of arson on Washington Avenue last Thursday and on West 17th Street last Friday. No suspects are in custody in any of those incidents, and anyone with any information is asked to contact Holland Public Safety or Silent Observer.
