HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Tulip Time may be over, but there’s still a lot going on in the Holland area this week!
Sunday 5/14: SUDS: “THE ROCKING 60’S MUSICAL SOAP OPERA” at Holland High School- The Rocking 60’s Musical Soap Opera” takes you back to the 1960s to tell the story of a young woman who works in a Laundromat, and the guardian angels that teach her how to find true love – romance in the Wash-O-Rama. SUDS is loaded with clean fun, bubbling energy, and over 50 songs that topped the charts. This laugh riot of a musical features hits of the 60’s including “Respect”, “It’s My Party”, Where the Boys Are”, and “Johnny Angel.” The production is performed by the Holland High School Theatre group which is the most decorated high school program in Michigan history, winning 19 state championships and nationally recognized as one of the top theatre and speech programs. 600 Van Raalte Avenue; 2:00 PM; $20.
Monday 5/15: Bike Holland Ride Series at Centennial Park- Bike Holland Ride the new & improved bike lanes in Holland! Celebrate the new Holland bike lanes with a ride! Bike rides will roll out from Centennial Park at 7pm and will last roughly 45 minutes at a very casual and social pace. All types of cyclists and bikes welcome. Helmets required. 250 Central Ave., Holland; 7pm; Free.
Tuesday 5/16: “It Takes Hope” at Central Wesleyan Church- All are invited for a night of encouragement and HOPE as Holly LeBlanc shares her journey with a rare progressive disease, Friedreich Ataxia and now Stage IV cancer. Dessert will be served afterwards! 446 W 40th St, Holland; 6:30 PM – 8 PM.
Wednesday 5/17: Farmers Market at Eighth Street Market Place- Buy fresh produce, flowers, plants, baked goods, meats cheeses, spices and more from over 50 vendors. Enjoy breakfast or lunch at our Food Court. And from June 7 to August 23, we have Kids Activities starting at 9:30am. 150 West Eighth Street, Holland; 8am-2pm.
Thursday 5/18: Hospice of Holland’s Celebration Gala- Hospice of Holland’s 32nd annual Celebration Gala is bringing back the splendor of the 1920’s! This speakeasy themed fundraiser will feature an evening of live jazz, gaming, cocktails, silent and vocal auctions, dinner, and community. Tickets are $125.00 and are available at hollandhospice.org or by calling 616.396.2972. Vintage attire is encouraged. Proceeds help fund services and programs currently not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. 171 East 24th, Holland; 6:30pm.
Friday 5/19: Rock the Coast – West Michigan at Ottawa County Fairgrounds- Rock the Coast West Michigan — supporting charitable causes in the Holland area by bringing top national artists like Crowder, Hillsong Young & Free, Plumb and many others for two days of music, fellowship, food and fun. Families will not want to miss the Camp Geneva games and activities on site. Saturday 5/20: Plant Sale at Community Action House General Store- Get your Vegetable On & Support Two Great Causes! Eighth Day Farms and Community Action House are putting on a joint plant sale, with over 55 different types of plants, and over 40 vegetable varietals including Super Sweet Tomato, Iko Iko Pepper, and Ancient Winter Squash, and many more. Annual flowers will also be available. Starting at $2 for a 4-pack, and flats priced to sell at $21 each. Supplies are limited, with all proceeds supporting the work of justice, feeding the hungry, and ending poverty by Eighth Day & CAH. Great resale store deals on garden decor, tools, and outdoor furniture as well. These organizations have been teamed up to bring about change to our local community, with Eighth Day produce provided at CAH’s Food Pantry and Community Kitchen, as well as the New Fast Food, which seeks to provide a healthy alternative to eating out through cooking local produce. 694 Michigan Ave., Holland; 9 am – 1 pm.
