ZEELAND TWP, MI (WHTC) – A 24-year-old Zeeland man was pronounced dead at the scene of a single vehicle crash in Zeeland Township Friday morning.
Ottawa County Deputies were called to the scene on Chicago Drive and 48th Avenue at 2:22 a.m. Sgt. Matt Wilfong says reports to Ottawa County Dispatch were that a vehicle struck a guard rail and rolled over. The caller came upon the crash, but did not witness it.
Investigation shows that Dylan Compagner was driving a 2000 GMC Yukon westbound on Chicago Drive just west of 48th Avenue when he ran off the side of the road, struck a guard rail and overturned the vehicle.
Compagner who was the only occupant was ejected from the vehicle.
The crash caused the guardrail to break off and it came to rest in the middle of the road blocking both westbound lanes of traffic. The Ottawa County Road Commission closed Chicago Drive for two hours.
The crash is under investigation.
