HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County will soon offer a new class to teach residents how to help someone having a mental health crisis.
1 in 5 Americans has a mental illness, but many are reluctant to seek help or might not know where to turn for care
The eight-hour “Mental Health First Aid” classes will soon be offered by Community Mental Health of Ottawa County at libraries around the county. The classes will teach around 25 people at a time and are being offered for free. e
In just ten years, Mental Health First Aid has become a full-blown movement in the United States—more than 550,000 people are certified Mental Health First Aiders and that number is growing every day.
The first class will be held at Herrick District Library in Holland on May 24th from 9:30-5:30 p.m. Other classes will be held at the Loutit District Library in Grand Haven and the Gary Byker Memorial Library of Hudsonville.
