NEW YORK (WHTC) – Four of the 10 high schools in the immediate Holland/Zeeland area scored well in the latest US News & World Report “Best High Schools in Michigan” rankings.
Black River Public School was third out of 1,097 in the state and 236th nationally in the 2017 survey by the news magazine, with Zeeland West 27th, West Ottawa 37th and Saugatuck 40th. The rankings are based on state proficiency tests, performance of disadvantaged students, graduation rates and student preparation for college-level coursework.
Wellspring Prep in Grand Rapids topped the state rankings, followed by Arbor Prep in Ypsilanti, and Rochester Adams was the highest traditional high school in Michigan at fourth.
