WASHINGTON, DC (WHTC) – Today is the National Day of Prayer and President Trump will host conservative and faith leaders as he signs a new executive order.
The executive order is on religious liberty. It’s expected to ease rules on political activity by churches and charities.
Zeeland Congressman Bill Huizenga says the whole notion of separation or church and state is fundamentally wrong if you look at our founding fathers.
“What they said is that we cannot have a state sponsored church. They didn’t want to become the Church of England. The didn’t want to be a church that was created by a government. That was their main goal. So we have so handedly handcuffed peoples faith from being able to publically express their beliefs and religious views. It is about making sure we are able to have a free and open ablilty to express our views.”
Politico reports that as of yesterday, lawyers were still tweaking the wording of the executive order.
