HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – As Hope College heads for the climax of its Academic Year with Sunday’s Commencement Ceremony, the award season is underway at the Holland-based school.
Mary VandeHoef, who wears the hats of head softball coach, intramural director and the Dow Center’s assistant director, was named as the 18th annual Vanderbush-Weller Award winner for having a “strong, positive impact” on students, according to the school. “It recognizes and supports the efforts of Hope faculty and staff who make extraordinary contributions to the lives of students,” said Hope spokesman Greg Olgers in a statement.
VandeHoef, in her seventh year at the school, has successfully juggled all of her responsibilities, garnering success on the softball diamond and increasing participation in intramural activities from 1300 when she started to around two thousand this year.
Hope students are currently going through final exams this week, with graduation set for Ray & Sue Smith Stadium, weather permitting.
