HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Tulip Time officially kicks off Saturday, May 6, but unofficially on Thursday with with Dutch Dance at Centennial Park.
The new sound system has been installed and Executive Director of tulip Time, Gwen Auwerda says it they have tested it out getting the volume and levers right and it awesome.
” It’s just spectacular. So we’re really excited now to dance and add that klomping to it. I think it’s going to be great. We’re really really excited about it.”
Tulip Time was awarded a grant of $22,500 from the State of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs to replace the old system that made it so difficult to hear the music for dutch dancers. A new state of the art system will broadcast remastered scores of the folk music and it will also be used for announcements.
It also opens the opportunity for the system to be used by the City of Holland and other private groups outside of Tulip Time. Parties interested in renting the PA system can submit a request by email to Darlene Kuipers, Director of Business Development.
