HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – If you’ve been thinking about adopting a pet, Saturday is the day to do it.
It’s the Bissell Foundation’s “Empty The Shelters Day” where dog and cat adoption fees will be waived. Adoption fees can run from $60 for cats and up to $150 for dogs. On April 29, new pet owners will only be responsible for the licensing fee which can cost from $7 to $12.
The Bissell Pet Foundation will also be giving adopters an Adopt Box which will be filled with pet care guidelines, 30 days of pet insurance, treats and toys, cleaning products and coupons.
20 shelters around the area will be participating in Empty the Shelters day including Harbor Humane Society in West Olive. A full list of the shelters participating is online.
In October of 2016, over 1,900 animals statewide found forever homes through the Empty the Shelters Day.
