HOLLAND, MI (WTHC) – Windmill Islands will be holding a Historic Dutch Trade Fair during Tulip Time this year.
Over 100 re-enactors and historic merchants will be camped on the Island throughout the weekend of May 6 & 7 from 10 am-6pm. A few selected historic merchants from the fair will continue to peddle their wares on the Island through May 13, weather permitting.
Re-enactors representing a variety of different cultures from the 17th and 18th centuries will demonstrate how trade was an important way of life for some colonials. Some of the cultures to be represented are Native Americans, voyageurs, fur traders, merchants, as well as other tradesmen and women.
On Friday, May 5 Windmill Island Gardens will hold the Time Traders program for approximately 650 students from 13 different schools. The two hour program is geared for grades 3-5 and will feature 10 different historic presenters.
