HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -Construction is set to begin in mid April on South Shore Drive in Holland.
The South Shore Drive Reconstruction project is a joint project between Holland Board of Public Works (HBPW) and the City of Holland. The project will include water main work, sanitary and storm sewer work, ADA sidewalk ramps and reconstruction of the roadway.
The Board of Directors of the Holland Board of Public Works (HBPW) approved a contract with Kamminga and Roodvoets Inc.for street and utility improvements to South Shore Drive, in an amount not to exceed $5,560,000.
Residents east of Old Orchard to west of Myrtle Avenue can expect to see crews onsite the week of April 17 to line the sewer prior to road construction.
Holland BPW General Manager Dave Koster says one of our primary drivers in the project was to replace aging infrastructure and increase capacity. He says the investment is going to help ensure that they are continuing to provide reliable water and wastewater service to their customers.
The project will be completed in several phases throughout the spring and summer months. A detour plan has been established by HBPW and the City of Holland.
Customers that will be affected in phase one of the project will be receiving a postcard communication in the mail prior to construction and can also keep up-to-date by visiting HBPW website.
