HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The Lomax Big House Band will take you on a musical journey with folk, jazz, country and bluegrass at the 2017 Tulip Time Festival.
It’s a first for the band appearing at Tulip Time even though the band has been entertaining audiences since 2010. The six-piece-band features Jeff Ashby (lead guitar), Jack Oonk (vocals), Mike Oonk (vocals, guitars), John Ozinga (vocals, bass), Bob Willey (vocals, harmonic, banjo, mandolin) and John Vrieling on the drums.
Willey says he met Jack at a performance at the Civic Theater and at a cast party afterwards they decided to have a jam session and it took from there. They have since added a drummer and rhythm section. The band has a few original songs, but it mostly a cover band.
It’s not just another gig performing at Tulip Time says Oonk.
“This opportunity seemed to us like we were actually going to not be treated like background music, but be the focal point of this event. We really like it when people pay attention us, listen and tap their feet and sing along. So that’s what were hoping for. That we can rouse these folks with our music and they can not only enjoy a quality lunch but enjoy some quality music.”
The show is called Tulip Time Musical Mix Luncheon Show and will be at the DoubleTree Hotel on Tuesday May 9 through Friday May 12 from 11-1:00 p.m. Tickets are $25.00 per person and a full lunch is included.
Tickets for this show, and all other festival events, can be purchased online, via phone at 616-396-.4221 or visit the Tulip Time box office at 74 west 8th Street.
