COOPERSVILLE, MI (WHTC) – Governor Snyder on Monday used the backdrop of a converted manufacturing plant in northern Ottawa County to announce a regional infrastructure pilot program.
Mr. Snyder signed an executive directive establishing a one-year-long joint initiative with the state’s West and Southeast regions, covering 55 percent of Michigan’s urban, suburban and rural population, which will, in a statement from his office, “help formulate recommendations on how Michigan can establish a statewide integrated asset management system that will safeguard Michigan residents and reduce costs for communities and users.” This will focus on transportation, water, sewer and stormwater assets, with broadband and energy utilities also “included in discussions and the pilot process.”
Signing ceremonies were held at the Continental Dairy complex in Coopersville, where a former Delphi plant converted into a dairy processing facility recently received a state grant towards increasing capacity in its wastewater treatment system, and at the state Department of Transportation’s operations center in Detroit.
