GEORGETOWN TWP, MI (WHTC) – A three-vehicle crash Tuesday evening sent two Jenison women to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital.
Deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 20th Avenue and New Castle Drive at 9:09 p.m. after 35-year-old Lacy Smit failed to stop at the stop sign westbound on New Castle Drive. Smith then drove her 2001 Dodge Caravan into the intersection where she struck the passenger side of 2000 Dodge Magnum driven by27-year-old Brittani Rosenow of Wyoming.
Sgt. Brian Buter says after the collision, a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 17-year-old Joshua Mastenbergen of Jenison was unable to avoid the other two vehicles and struck Smith’s Dodge Caravan in the passenger door. The Caravan and the Dodge Magnum then ran off the roadway coming to rest in a yard northwest of the intersection.
Lacy Smit and her front seat passenger 35-year-old Lynsy Odell were both injured and transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital by Life EMS in stable condition. Rosenow and Mastenbergen were treated at the scene and released.
Northbound 20th Avenue was closed for 90 minutes while the crash was investigated.
