HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Greater Ottawa County United Way is proud to announce the 2017 Volunteer of the Year: Diane Ybarra.
Ybarra is a Holland native and has served Greater Ottawa County United Way and others in many diverse roles. She began her career at Haworth in project management and then transitioned to human resources. Diane currently works in human resources at Global Concepts Enterprise in Holland, where she oversees their environmental and social responsibility initiatives.
Shannon LaHaie, Director of Volunteerism says it was another great year for volunteerism. A total of 8,778 volunteers gave 130,755 hours of their time for a total impact of more than $3 million in the community.
Ybarra’s list of volunteer accomplishments include:
- Serving on the Lakeshore Human Resources Management Association as Board President
- Current Board Chair for the Center for Women in Transition
- Curriculum Chair of the West Coast Leadership program
- Served 10 years on United Way’s Community Investment panel (in a leadership role for 3 years)
Diane holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Grand Valley, and a certification as a Senior Resource Professional. She began her career at Haworth in project management and then transitioned to human resources. Ybarra has three beautiful children and eight grandchildren. She enjoys hiking, traveling, and long trips on her motorcycle.
