HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Tulip Time merchandise based on the 2017 Tulip Time poster called “Playful Time” by artist and Holland resident Michele Gort is selling like hotcakes.
Her inspiration for “Playful Time” came from photos Michele took of tulips in full bloom along Holland’s Tulip Lanes. Not only is the poster selling, but so are coffee mugs, t-shirts, cards and anything with the artwork on it.
Executive Director of Tulip Time Gwen Auwerda says they are not surprised because they knew when they picked the poster that people would love it.
“Merchandise is just moving out our doors like crazy. We’ve been re-ordering coffee mugs and lot’s of things so we’ll have enough for the festival, but merchandise has gone really well.”
Auwerda says people are always dropping off memorabilia at their 8th Street offices.
“We’ll put it aside and we’ll use it maybe for the 90th Tulip Time? I hope once we start planning for the 90th, which we will begin this summer, we can look at how do we show that.”
The Tulip Time Preview is now available offering highlights of the 2017 program. Previews can be viewed online or you can request a copy at www.tuliptime.com/join. Full festival details will be available in the Spring Festival Guide published in March.
