HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – When J.C. Penney announced it was closing 138 stores nationwide, many wondered if that included the store in Holland. Unfortunately it does.
The store has released its list of stores that are closing and not only is the Holland J.C. Penney at the shops at Westshore on the list, but the J.C. Penney inside Lakeview Square Mall in Battle Creek is closing too.
Nationwide 5,000 positions will be affected by the closure with most happening in June. A liquidation process is expected to start on April 17.
The company did say it would initiate a voluntary early retirement program for around 6,000 eligible employees.
