HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Work is moving along on the new sound system at Centennial Park for Tulip Time 2017.
Executive Director Gwen Auwerda says during the weather warm up a few weeks ago, all the underground wiring went in. Now they are waiting to put speakers up and will be ready to go when Tulip Time rolls around.
With over 500,000 visitors every year, the sound system was the number one complaint from visitors and it made it very hard for the dancers to hear the music. The sound system that broadcasts the music for Dutch Dance was installed in the 1980’s and over the last 30 years has deteriorated says officials with Tulip Time. Playback was distorted and it’s hard to hear the announcements that are made prior to performances.
Every donation made toward this project, up to $22,500, will be matched dollar for dollar by the Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs. You can help Tulip Time reach their goal of $55,000 by making a donation today. Gifts of $500 or more will be publicly and permanently recognized at Centennial Park. Credit card donations can be made by clicking here, or gifts of checks/cash can be sent directly to the Tulip Time Festival, ATTN: Tulip Time Sound, 74 W. 8th Street, Holland, MI 49423.
