HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Irish eyes and Dutch eyes will be smilin’ when the St. Patrick’s Day Parade rolls into town this weekend.
The Dutch go Irish on the day after St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 18. The parade begins at 12 p.m. at the Eight Street Marketplace and travels east up Eighth Street until it reaches the Curragh Irish Pub and New Holland Brewing Company Restaurant and Pub (on the corner on Eighth Street and College Avenue).
The parade has teamed up with Community Action House once again this year and you’re encouraged to bring dry and canned goods. Grocery carts will go up and done the route collecting non-perishable food items says Kathy Blackburn whose on the parade committee.
” We want people to know that it’s a very fun day to come down to the parade and wear green, orange or white. But we also want people to know the reason we’ve partnered with Community Action House is because there was a blight over in Ireland. So one of the things we want to bring attention to that we have people experiencing that in our own community who could use help with food.”
You’ll enjoy Irish dancers, bagpipers, and kilt-wearers. You’re invited to wear green and carry an Irish flag in the parade. (a limited number of flags will be available at no charge). Make sure you look for the WHTC/92 7 The Van in the parade!
